The original Globe Theatre was built in 1599 by William Shakespeare and his actors company, Lord Chamberlains Men. The building burned down in 1613. A new one was built in 1614 but was forced to close by the Long Parliament in 1642.
This reconstruction, called Shakespeare's Globe was opened in 1997 and is about 750 feet from the orignal.
