Founded in the 7th Century, by King Ine of Wessex, Glastonbury Abbey became one of the most prominant monasteries in England. It is associated with the King Arthur Legend and is purported to be the final resting place of Arthur and Guinevere. Medieval monks claimed it was "Avalon" of legend and Christian legends say it was founded by Joseph of Arimathea in the 1st century.
