BEFORE YOU BUY DECOR PRINTS CONSIDER THIS:
There is no substitute for quality. I searched for labs that best fulfilled my client’s needs and began using different labs for different products.
When you purchase a print, I personally size each image for the best resolution, dimension, file type, and color space to render the highest quality photo possible. The print from that file is produced by a lab that excels at what they do; whether it’s a metal print, Giclée fine art, Giclée canvas wrap, traditional luster or metallic paper print, or a mounted, ready to hang piece of art, be assured that your print will be of the highest quality available.
TRADITIONAL PHOTO PAPER - Exhibition-grade traditional Lustre or Metallic Photo Paper. Metallic prints have a more visual depth than Lustre paper and a metallic “look” that needs to be seen to be appreciated. Prints are full bleed, ready for mounting or framing*.
READY TO HANG MOUNTED PRINTS – Printed on the same paper as above and mounted on a sturdy 1 1/2 inch light weight foam block with white edging. This option imparts a sleek modern look and come ready to hang right out of the box.
FINE ART WATERCOLOR GICLÉE PRINT – Printed on Hahnemühel William Turner or Hahnemühel Bamboo, the Fine Art Prints have a border of approximately 1 1/2 to 2 inches. So an image size of 8" X 12" will have an overall dimension of approximately 12" X 16". Giclée Prints have been tested to have an archival life of 100 plus years. William Turner is a thickly textured bright white paper, while Bamboo is less textured and has a little warmer tone. Bamboo is a uniquely recyclable material.
The prints arrive ready for framing.*
GICLÉE PRINTED 100% CANVAS GALLERY WRAP - A classic painterly look on stretched canvas, wrapped around a 1 1/2 inch wooden frame with hanging wire attached ready to hang or frame.
PRINTS ON METAL - As durable as they are gorgeous, images are heat infused onto aluminum and treated with a top coat that makes them long lasting and easy to maintain. (Just wipe them with a damp cloth!) Images are printed on a white background and enhanced by a transparent high gloss or semi-mat coating giving them extraordinary visual impact and depth. Glossy prints on metal are more popular than the semi-mat, but if glaring reflections may pose a problem the semi-mat are the better choice because they are less reflective. Each print has rounded corners and comes with an attached metal hanger appropriate to its size, ready to hang. As rugged as they are they’re not suitable for display outdoors.
COLOR FASTNESS – No one can guarantee the longevity of photo colors. However, when displayed and cared for properly (NEVER display a photograph in direct sunlight!) any of these products should give many many years of enjoyment.
*FRAMING: Canvas, metal prints, and mounted art won't need to be framed. But all other collective art, including photographic paper prints, should be highly protected. Dust, air, and UV light can all damage an art piece. For that reason I don’t sell or recommend framed photos from a website because they do very little in the way of protection. I urge my clients to find a local framer and have them frame your art to archival museum standards. It’s well worth the effort and expense.
If you’re fairly handy you can save quite a bit by doing it yourself. Just be sure that you use archival material, and glass that blocks UV light.
