The Jeanie Johnston- Dublin, Ireland
Photo of the 3 masted barque Jeanie Johnston. The Jeanie Johnston is a replica of a three masted barque. The original was built as a cargo vessel in 1848 in Quebec. From 1848 to 1855 she made 16 voyages carrying Irish famine refugees to the North American cities of Quebec, New York, and Baltimore. Unlike other famine ships of the day, which had such high mortality rates they were nicknamed "Coffin Ships", the Jeanie Johnston never lost a soul.
